Traps are one way, but you may also use Windows Event Log or Syslog. WUG has listeners for both and if the application can generate a Windows Event or send info to a Syslog server, WUG can be made to trigger an alert when very specific things happen.

We're trying to find a way to get alerts that our ArcServe backup jobs have failed or need attention. I'm using WhatsUp Gold for basic monitoring of our servers, etc. I was thinking it's probably possible to configure ArcServe to send an SNMP trap to WUG and then WUG could send SMTP mail or SMS alerts to us. So far I haven't found much documentation on it, so I thought I'd see if any of you are already doing this. We're using Netware 5.1 with ArcServe 7 and 9. Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Jason Mrva Network Support Technician DLZ Corporation Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
