Hopefully, this example would not work "as is" in a production environment -
the admin password would have been changed =)

I was asked an interesting question about this mechanism today "But isn't
this insecure? The UserName and Password is being transmitted in clear".

Yes, it is transmitted in clear.

And if that's a concern then the solution is to use the SSL websrever -
where everything is encrypted.

Which would mean tweaking the example to use "https:" instead of "http:"

Here's a little hack based on the WUP KB article.

Open the default.asp with a text editor.
Replace the one line in there with the following:

<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0;
url=http://MYWUPSERVERNAMEORIP/NmConsole/Navigation.asp?sGroupView=Map.asp&s
Tab=Explorer&sUserName=admin&sPassword=admin">

(The above is one line only)
This should log you in as "admin" with the password "admin".

Has anyone changed the ASP in What's Up Pro to allow for unsecured
access to the site? I would like to launch the root page without having
to login.

Ipswitch, is this on your radar for future service packs?

Thx!
