When sending syslog messages, the router probably uses source IP address different than the address monitored by WU. If it is a cisco router, use this command and put interface that is being monitored by WU.

logging source-interface <interface name>

I recommend using Loopback interface for this kind of stuff.

[WhatsUp Forum] Syslog queries

Hi,

I'm currently evaluating What's Up Gold, and I'm trying to get syslog
messages to be associated with the appropriate device.

I have two routers which are both logging to my WhatsUp syslog server, but
one gets associated with the correct device quite nicely, and the other
doesn't. The one that does not appears in the log as Unsolicited...

Anybody have any ideas on how I configure this correctly ?

Thanks

Andy Fry
