I've added SMS messeging to my WUG arsenal for those people who get
messages on their cell phones, distinct from email.

As has been referred to, I needed an additional method beyond email and
found that the staff was more likely to have their cell phones than
their pager. SMS bypasses the email system and goes direct to the
provider's modem; with WUP using the same modem I still use for pager
messages.

I know that it is possible to get the text paging to work with WUG. We
use Skytell and are able to send out pages through both the internet and
a modem. I know that one of the last points that I needed to do to get
it to work when I was setting the baud down to 2400.

I have been constantly lied to by Ipswitch. First they attempted to
screw
iMail users over last year and then they back tracked...(I switched to
Smart
Mail)...and then with WUG.

One of the mail reasons I bought WUG was the voice notifications. Once
I
got it and finally got around to setting it up I was told that voice
wouldn't work with anything past Windows 98.

Since I can't do 98 I was screwed. But not to worry...it was being
worked
on and should be out soon...a few years go by. I kept my service
agreement
in line but never used the software. Last I'm told...it won't ever be
fixed...they told me to use text messages.

Fine...but what if the internet goes down...no email txt messages go
out.

They tell me to call my service provider and get the terminal number
to
directly send a txt message. After a few hours I finally got a number
from
Verizon...but after several hours of trying to get it to work, I
finally
gave up.

So, it looks like 2 out of 3 products I've invested in with Ipswitch
don't
work or I was screwed over. I still use FTP server, but I'm thinking
of
looking at other products before they screw that up too.

It seems perfectly logical that with the technology out there that
ipswitch
could provide a voice noticification. But, maybe they plan on dropping
it
and therefore not investing any time into it.

So you don't use voice notifications, you use pager messages.

Well you made me look it up... ;)
We have 2 U.S. Robotics V.92 Fax Win Int
        and 1 U.S.R Sportster 33.3k

Running on Windows 2000 Server...

It was a pain to setup... We use it to call our pager network... So it
need
to be set to 300 baud and a number of other settings...

regards

Jason
