I created a system DSN instead of a user DSN so that no matter who logs in
will be able to use it. Everything works perfectly now. My problem was, I
had created the dsn name of WUGSTATDATA.TAB instead of WUGSTATDATA. Once I
took the TAB off, it worked as it should.
Thanks everyone for your assistance.

Yea, this happens to me occasionally and I haven't figured out what it is
that causes WUGSTATDATA to disappear, but searching on your error message
("Cannot Open SQL server.") in the knowledge base will give you this link to
check out and has always solved this issue for me (in fact I keep it book
marked with the rest of my WUG book marks so I can avoid having to search
for it every time). The final thing it asks you to do is to restart WUG
after it's been configured, but I've never had to do that to get a report
out of it, so give the instructions a try as far as getting the data source
configured and then run your report:

I also created it as a System DSN which I would think is appropriate
for
access by an NT Service. Same thing. The book also says that the data
is
stored in wugstats.log which doesn't exist on my server.

If someone could take the time, please post your ODBC settings for
this. I
am running Wug 8.04

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Problems with reports

I am trying to generate some of the canned reports.
When I click on 'Do Report' of Avail_Month I get;
Cannot Open SQL server.
In the focus bar it says:
Report Job Failed. Error: 599:2 Avail_Month

Doing some research It seems it is trying to use a Data Source named;
wugstatdata.tab
I see in my ODBC configuration no such, file, system or user DSN
exists.

I look at page 10 of the book and it seems that if it doesn't exist, I
can
create it.
So I select user DSN, and Microsoft txt driver, then select the path to
the
file named
wugstatdata.tab which is:
c:\program files\whatsup
gave it the DSN name of WUGSTATDATA.TAB
and description of Whats Up gold user DSN.

Restarted WUG, and it still doesn't seem to be able to create the
report. I
found no reference to this on their web site.
ODBC was installed prior to installing WUG over a year ago. I don't
know if
the reports ever worked or not.

Any help will be appreciated.
