Title: Email notification error

Question/Problem: What does this error, "failed to connect to Gatehost" mean?

Answer/Solution: "Failed to connect to Gatehost" is an entry in the debug log for a failed SMTP Mail notification. It means that there is a block to port 25 through some gateway (such as a firewall) that is preventing the WhatsUp Gold machine from sending mail to the SMTP server.

This message also occurs when there is no SMTP daemon running on the SMTP server.

You can use telnet to see if an SMTP server answers on port 25:

Start | Run | telnet mail.your_domain.com 25

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Email notification error

I am trying to send email notification through Exchange 5.5 server.  I get Notification failed.  When I check the log I get "failed to connect to gatehost"

Any suggestions welcomed.
