It won't be guaranteed to be thrown away all the time automatically like cookies are (due to browsers having what turn out to be low global and per-site limits). Users will have the ability to delete it, but it won't be silently lumped in with cookies. All the spec really says is that UAs should note to their users that sites can keep data about them in Local Storage. This isn't grounds for a tantrum. PK
