Kafka is a a distributed pub/sub system recently open sourced by LinkedIn. The
code repo is located [here|https://github.com/kafka-dev/kafka] and and a good
technical overview can be read [here|http://sna-projects.com/kafka/design.php].
It would be good to be able to deploy and manage it via Whirr.
