Hi Loren, I see this occasionally when a cluster hasn't been torn down properly (e.g. the instances have been terminated manually but the EC2 security groups are still there). I opened https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WHIRR-249 for this case. Do you think there may be other cases causing this?
