In order to track down a bug that is haunting us, I have created an embedded tomcat runner for threadtest.
It works by adding the tomcat libraries to the classpath. I have to add the jars to a lib folder in subversion to make it work (tomcat doesn't deploy its jars to the central maven repo). i also created a test that runs random clicks on the dataview on a new version in each iteration. This way we can exercise 100000 clicks on the same page using 100's of users. Is this something we want to have in our main development branch?
