But still a base component must know it will be subclasses. And its implemenation is written for that

Did you take a look at the library example? It makes use of a common base class which is Border component. I used the same approach for an appfuse like example. Header, left navigation bar etc. are part of common base class and the main part is still separated. No need to replace it.
