I'm not sure I like that idea. a) Wicket should focus on one very clear and precise topic and make use of other frameworks and libraries which focus on these topics. b) a modification to the url rewrite rules would require modifications to Wicket (components/config) as well. I guess it'll become a config problem very soon.
I'd prefer a solution where the url re-write filter converts hrefs contained in the http response automatically. Though I'm not sure these tools are at all able to do it.
