i understand that you're excited to apply wicket to more advanced problems, and it would be nice to get to RFEs again, but we simply can't rush 1.0. if we get important stuff wrong, everyone (yourself included!) is really going to regret it one way or the other.
as far as timing goes, we're not ready for RC1 yet, let alone 1.0 (although i sense we could do a final beta sometime very soon, maybe this week). there is a huge amount of testing, debugging and documenting to do still. i know people have been writing apps against wicket, but i am very sceptical of test coverage right now. i've found bugs in the last couple weeks that clearly indicated nobody had ever used various features of the core api. we need help big-time testing stuff and reporting bugs. go break wicket so we can make it solid! we'd also love to add good junit tests. i'd like to see a lot more testing in general before we ship 1.0. i'd also like more code reviewing. how long does all this take? that depends on how hard people work. if we all gripe about how our pet 1.1 features aren't getting worked on, it will all just take that much longer. give me a pile of bugs to fix and a ton of well-written unit tests that cover the core! if we had that today and some substantial doc improvements, we could probably ship in a few days. what are you waiting for? test! ;-)

My only fear is that once we declare 1.0 it'll take us a while before moving on to 1.1 and I do feel that a lot of these issues are rather pressing. If we plan on going to 1.1 rather soonish then I have absolutely no problem declaring 1.0 right now. The sooner we do it, the sooner we can get on to 1.1 and then you guys won't have any excuses to avoid RFEs :) :)

i hesitate to say this, but at long last, the core looks pretty done to me. ;-)
aside from the w3c/id stuff and the bugs in the database, are there any complaints?
