Actually, I don't agree with that we should expect Wicket performance being worse than any other framework. We should actually go for having superiour performance as well.

So, yeah, let's look into this. I think it is also a matter of best practices etc.

Right now, we're very bussy doing other refactorings, but let's give performance and stuff a closer look next week.

I just added 20 new StaticImageResource references into my Page. All of a sudden, rendering time is 2x worse.

Look, I think we all expect Wicket performance to be worse than JSP, but the behavior I've been seeing recently feels like a 10x factor degradation. This is rather alarming. Why is adding something as lightweight as StaticImageResource so expensive? Even worse, if I hit REFRESH in my browser, the Page is rendered age, resulting in the StaticImageResources getting the same URLs, yet the performance is still just as bad.

I keep on getting the feeling we are doing something fundamentally wrong here. I know you guys have mentioned in the past that you have deployed production websites using Wicket. I find that hard to believe. Over the past few weeks I've been working with Wicket it has become rather clear that no one has ready tested it against non-trivial websites... or at least if they did, they didn't file a slew of RFEs and bug reports.

I know you guys wanted to rush to 1.0, but I think we are *far* from getting there. I think API-wise we're close to 1.0, but implementation-wise we're far.

Just my 2 cents. (I hope you prove me wrong)
