In this case, it is most probably the new owner of the nedstat counter on the frontpage that is creating the popups. I'll remove the counters, and try to find an alternative.

According to the media in the Netherlands, the license for dutch people states that no popups and advertisement is used on pages using the counters, but the english license does have that requirement.

I find it unacceptable that the mere usage of the counter shows popups on the counted site. I can live with popups/unders when you look at the statistics, but not on the counted site.

Michael,
Could you please do us a favour and check your system with some of
the following and report the results?

Spybot S&D -   http://www.safer-networking.org/?page=download
Ad-aware - http://www.lavasoft.de/
- http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

The reason is that there are reports [e.g.
http://www.excedra.com/ipccouncil/justin/viewoffender.php?f_id=58]
that the popups come from infected PC's that have a Browser Helper
Object that scans the content of websites visited for keywords in
order to open pop-up advertising when and if they are detected on a
site.  It's possible that Wicket is triggering some of the keyword
searches.
