it would be really neat if profiling were integrated into the
build/release process.
ideally, we could have a target in maven that is part of the normal
build process
for a snapshot/rc/final release which generates an xdoc document and
transformed
html page showing profile information... sizes of various objects, hot
methods and
elapsed times for common tasks, etc. it could be like a little control
panel that
would keep us aware of how we're doing on performance from release to
release.
