thanks for a really nice, well-written introductory article! i did
not see any problems.

my only comment is that i would prefer the lack of configuration
files be stressed last. this is because wicket has been frequently
dismissed by naive posters as "tapestry without xml config files",
which (even though xml config /is/ a little hell of its own) really is
a disservice to wicket. the two frameworks could not be more
different in their component models and approaches to state
management. in fact, the idea that i could improve these areas was
the original motivation that got me to start writing wicket a year
and a half ago.
wicket has come a very long ways in a very short time thanks to a
dedicated global team and a lot of hard work from everyone. my
sense is that people are going to be fairly blown away by where we
are next year at this time. wicket 1.3 or greater should be out and
we'll have a lot of great components (including ajax components),
really good spring integration, perhaps an ide plugin or two and
wicket in action should be on the shelves in bookstores. oh, and
world peace. ;-)

thanks again for picking up our story.

best,

       jon

I have posted a quick Tutorial to the Javalobby Tips & Tricks section presenting Wicket 1.1 (actually works with Wicket 1.2 12/29 snapshot as well) as a primer to a suite of tips I plan to write regarding Wicket:

Comments, feedback, corrections, and suggestions would be appreciated. I don't want to omit or state something incorrectly!
