I have run into a small problem in my testing. I put a wicket tree inside an AjaxTabbedPanel panel. I was too lazy to turn the junction links into AjaxLinks, so they were just standard Links that caused a full page refresh. The first time the tree renders everything is ok. The next call the display gets munged because tree.css is missing. When I turn the junction links into AjaxLinks everything renders just fine. Let me know if you need more info.
