We should remove that application constructor param completely.
Sessions shouldn't have to have an application param/field inside them.

I'm reverting this change, as we lost our ability to deploy an
application without recompiling, breaking drop-in replacement for bug
fixes.
I'm not against this change, but it should not be in the bugfix 1.2 branch.
