The dev list is meant for wicket-core related topics and yes, the things you are proposing from point of view are related to add/modify core functionality rather than "how to use wicket". The latter one is meant to be disussed in the user list.

But please bare in mind that at the beginning of project back in september we agreed upon tossing ideas around until everyone is really satisfied with it and sometime we even let the problem settle for some weeks to better understand it and the implications which the change might bring with it.
