I think the following would be important aspects in the short term:
Technology:
- Investigations into "Wicket-on-rails"
Not sure whether It'll look the same, but this is what the bean panel
discussion is about. It's on the developers list, so I'm not sure
whether you follow that.
- Ajax of course
Discussing about it. We implemented the basic call back pattern, but
still have to do the hard parts.
Maybe more import - availability:
- More components (even though Tapestry is an older project, Wicket has
the opportunity to make more components available to developers. The
Tapestry guys made this Tacos project for components. I don't think it
ever offered any components at all.)
We created wicket-stuff for that. That project is especially meant for
high level components etc, but also to have a lower-barrier space for
people that would like to contribute in their own pace, while the
wicket-core team stays the same.
- More "how-to" documentation, on components as well as the framework.
The documentation on Model is a great example. That is good stuff.
- I think it would be a good idea to write a how-to document for Struts
programmers. The equivalent of logic:iterate in Wicket is....
Hopefully, our documentation will happen soon.
Oh, by the way. I have suggested to the organizers of the JAOO
conference (Aarhus, Denmark, september) that you guys be invited. I
haven't got a response yet, but if you are interested, check out
www.jaoo.dk.
Looks cool, thanks!
