We have had this discussion before, and the answer was, and in my strong opinion still is: no.

The reasons why we have the mailinglist in place are:

We can react immediately to questions asked. Forums force us to check it manually, and to post through some horrible interface.

Further: having several media for contacting us is very problematic for us and the users. That's why I disabled the support tracker.

And finally: like Stefan, I /hate/ forums. They are horrible to search through, and I /really/ dispise that I have to check the forum and go to that website in order to know whether my question has been answered, or to ask a question.

User questions should go through the user list, so that you have one archive of all messages to search through. Discussions on the merits of Wicket internal design, such as Peter asks are more for the development list.

If you wish to read the messages in a forum like manner, I suggest going to gmane, which allows one to browse the mailinglist in a newsgroup viewer.

I think this mailing list is getting out of hand. There are simply too many messages being posted back and forth and although their content is good, the medium they're posted in is poor.

Can we please move all discussions to a discussion forum so readers will be free to skip entire threads of discussion at once? I personally installed JForum and had it up and running within an hour. It's really easy. Can we please do the same for Wicket?

Thank you,
Gili
