localization, without the need for maintaining different html files for
each language. I didn't aimed for more. It's just a proof of concept.
Being able to do the stuff you have described would be great, but it
would require (at least small) changes to wicket, for the implementation
to look elegant.
Localization is a very important topic and I believe Wicket should
have a wicket-like solution without the need for a syntax like
$(xxx.yy) which feels (just my gutt feeling) like a debris (looked it
up in a dictionary: foreign body) in the wicket context.
I do agree here. It's different approach. But It's much easier tu put
$(something) in html that usign <wicket:component or whatever else. I
didn't want it to be verbose.
I have/ had the same concerns. However, I think the option of easily and
non-verbosely including localized strings is very important to many
people. I think we have enough remarks about that on this list to prove
it is.
I agree that it is foreign to the usual Wicket approach, which is
probably a good indicator that it should be an extension. If users want
it, we give them the option, but not before they made a weigthed
consideration first.

Exactly my opinion. This doesn't break anything in wicket, it's merely
an add-on. It is simple solution for users that don't want to manage
bunch of markup files for each language. It's not wicket-like enough to
be in core, but it might be and extension IMHO.
