Ersin, By "Off the beaten path", I think he meant that not many people know about it and are using it. Honestly, I've looked for something like wicket before and have just now found it... Only then because of a message posted by someone in response to a JavaWorld article on a similar, but IMHO less complete and extensive framework called Mentawai.
He may also have meant that wicket does things differently than any of the other frameworks when he said "Off the beaten path". It's definitely not like struts, spring, or any of the other frameworks that are currently popular. That's OK though. I think Wicket is a fantastic framework and will be quite popular as more people come to know and use it.
