Of course, Wicket urls are not that ugly as, say Amazon's. For
example, this one:

Of course, users cannot make anything of this link, so Amazon has
breadcrumbs like this:
Books > Subjects > Computers & Internet > Web Development

I think this is quite excessive. I should be able to type in the
address bar something like
www.amazon.com/books/subjects/computers/webdev
and get to the same page. In this case breadcrumbs would not be
needed. Also, I should be able to go one or more levels up and to get
meaningful result, like:

www.amazon.com/books/subjects/computers/webdev
www.amazon.com/books/subjects/computers
www.amazon.com/books/subjects
www.amazon.com/books

The fact that Amazon has sucky urls is not a reason for Wicket to be
the same. Also, as you can see, each of these urls should point to a
non-versioned single-instance page, so it would work perfectly in
Wicket.
