I don't understand what do you mean by adding during the page cunstruction?

I actually meant if you call add() not during populateItem() than throw an Exception otherwise add it to the DataItem given as argument. However I am fine with throwing always an UnsupportedOE, but this should be definately done because this mistake happens all the time.
