you mean WicketSessionFilter?

do you really need to extend it? what it does is set the wicket.Session threadlocal to the wicket session so that it is available outside of wicket world. so if you setup your security filter to run after the wicketsessionfilter, in your security filter you can get to the wicket session by simply doing Session.get()
