Actually, .NET isn't that bad. Way better than Struts or any other model 2 framework imo. It's component oriented, and personally I think they even did that in a better way (because simpler) than JSF. JSF and .NET or very close cousins. Not something I would like to do without IDEs that support it though, and I've seen people doing .NET with word pad because VS crashed on their files.
