Gennadiy,

Sometimes things are not bugs but just don't work as people expect
them to do, or sometimes a feature is missing. These things are also
incorporated into Wicket and reported as fixed.

Regarding the quality of our development proces... I think Wicket is
one of the best frameworks out there when looking at the quality of
the code and the javadoc.

When we released 1.2 final, we had a testing period of over 2 months,
with over 150 people downloading each test release and helping out
test the framework in their projects. I think this ensures better
quality control than many commercial products out there.

We have over 400 unit tests, an automated continuous integration
process and we have YOU to help test our framework.

Wicket is an open source project run by volunteers: noone is paying us
to work on it. As we would like to enjoy our free time, we rather not
empose a CMM level X type of leash on us. Our day jobs are already
boring enough thank you very much. You can get Wicket and all the
hours of development we and our community put into it for free. You
even recieve support gratis: bugs are solved without payment, help is
given without needing a support contract.

In return, we expect YOU (the users) to create a community around
Wicket where components and new ideas thrive and new users can enjoy a
friendly environment and atmosphere to work in.

How do you create such a community? We want you to use the software,
test it and give feedback on how we can improve Wicket. But we don't
even require this: you can take our framework and develop your
applications without us even knowing you are using Wicket and we don't
mind. We *do* like hearing that people are using Wicket and enjoying
it. Though less enjoyable, we *do* want to hear when people don't like
using Wicket, because we can then improve our framework.

We hope that a lot of people enjoy working with Wicket as their web
framework of choice, and as such we hope that Wicket will flourish and
gain a large user base, but this is not the ultimate driver for us. We
enjoy working on Wicket because we enjoy working /with/ Wicket. We
also enjoy having a community help us out and giving us code, tests,
documentation and feedback.

As for 1.2.1: what would you want? A half baked bug fix release or a
quality release having solved many problems reported by our users? We
are still solving some issues (mainly packaging) and we hope that
we'll be able to deliver one soon. Again, Wicket is driven by
volunteers and these things are done in the late hours of the evening
or in the weekends. So sometimes (more often than not) things take
longer than expected.
