Yes, got it.

(ChoiceFilter)super.getFilter(componentId, form);
                                                        
comp.getChoice().setEnabled( false );
                                                        return comp;
                                                }

on the  FilteredPropertyColumn. I had been disablling the ChoiceFilter
instead of its choice.

This is really fun when you get the hang of it.
