The implementation in 1.2.2 is strange:

    /**
     * @see wicket.ajax.IAjaxCallDecorator#decorateScript(CharSequence)
     */
    public CharSequence decorateScript(CharSequence script)
    {
        CharSequence s = preDecorateScript(script);
        return (delegate == null) ? s : delegate.decorateScript(script);
    }

with this implementation if there is delegate, the script will not
be wrapped by preDecorateScript(script) at all. Is this intended ? and why ?

As opposite, AjaxPostprocessingCallDecorator will wrap script correctly.
