It comes from your guideline to use proper typography in UI strings that I 
introduced 2 years ago. I am generating the characters with LibreOffice, so 
there is no reason why they shouldn't be a legal typographical apostrophe or 
closing quote.

Your check is only flagging up that there are any characters in some files that 
are not in ASCII range. What would be bad was if any of them didn't report as 
ASCII or UTF-8, but some other encoding, which would give us gibberish in 
Widelands.

Since we haven't had any problems with this in Widelands itself, I will merge 
this branch manually.
