As long as necessary, as short as possible. If it is online for a significant percentage of the year, it will be found by search engines leading to confusing (and mostly insignificant) links in search results. Search is our main influx of users, so this would be suboptimal. A few days at a time if there is something to test is probably not hurting us though.
