I don't think Gerard is trying to be aggressive. The point is, everyone has a different understanding of "regular". It is inherently subjective, and there is no point in trying to agree on a definition. It makes more sense just to say explicitly, e.g. "This study will focus on contributors who made more than 50 edits in the last year" [or whatever]. on a case by case basis.
