Gerard, It seems that the Usability Initiative has a related, but differing goal from our work. We have not worked with them in any direct way. We are definitely able and willing to collaborate with them. We are interested in the cultural aspects of Wikipedia, but our current work deals with very specific interface modifications in Wikipedia. This current study is very preliminary. It seems likely that we will expand support of our interface modification to other languages if the results show that the tool is helpful.
