Hello,

Saw this, seems relevant for someone here - I did not contact them (yet)
about whether they have interest in Wiki engagement but it is about
showcasing the history of NIH, especially women in health science.

Best,
Brett

Subject: Two Exciting Research Opportunities for Early-Career Historians
To: [email protected] <[email protected]>

Dear Prof. Sterner:

The Office of NIH History and Stetten Museum (ONHM) seeks candidates for
two opportunities to explore significant aspects of the history of the
National Institutes of Health (NIH), as either the primary focus of the
research or an essential component of a larger question. Proposals for one
of the opportunities can address any aspect of NIH history. Proposals for
the second, sponsored by NIH's Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH)
in celebration of its 35th anniversary, must focus on the history of
research in women's health. Applicants who propose topics concerning
research in women's health will automatically be considered for both
positions.

These opportunities are offered through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science
and Education (ORISE). Their terms are one year with the possibility of a
single, one-year renewal. Annual stipends are approximately $71,000 plus
medical, dental, and vision insurance. Details can be found in ORISE's
opportunity post (
https://www.zintellect.com/Opportunity/Details/NIH-ONHM-2026-0001) and on
ONHM's website (https://history.nih.gov/). Many of your questions may be
directly answered in our FAQ, available on the ONHM Stetten Scholars
webpage.

Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to email Dr. Kristin Heitman,
ONHM Deputy Director and Senior Historian ([email protected]), to discuss
possible research questions and the resources ONHM can provide. We also
encourage potential applicants to explore ONHM's resources on its website (
https://history.nih.gov/) and to email our staff ([email protected]) with
specific questions about those holdings. We are always delighted to assist
with research projects, regardless of whether the investigator plans to
apply for a Stetten scholarship.

Please share this announcement with your colleagues as well as with any
recent PhDs and senior graduate students who might be interested in
applying.
