Hi everyone,

One of the things we focus on behind the scenes here is how to try to
get better Google page rank for all wikis. We're going to be talking to
some people who focus in this area to see if there are any particular
issues we can improve. The discussion will take the form of the following:

    * Page structure - Mediawiki already does a very good job of making
sure page titles, section headers, etc, have the proper encoding
such that the search engines pick up key items on the page. We
want to see if there is anything that we can add to that.
    * Sub-domain structure - we have lots of sub-domains. We've heard
varying accounts of whether xyz.wikia.com vs. www.wikia.com/xyz
actually matters, so we want to see if there is any input on that issue.
    * Operations - sitemaps and other submission methods. We have
sitemaps being read by both Google and Yahoo but what other
methods are available and tools such that we can more consistently
      check on variations.
    * Content - we can't modify the content directly, but we can provide
suggestions and tutorials to our users about methods that might help.
    * General - link swaps, in-site page rank dilution, navigation, etc.
Any ideas for, in general, improving page rank.

If you have questions you'd like us to cover in this meeting, please let
me know so we can make time for them.

Thanks,
John Q.
