Hi Cizaña... yes, understand the concern.

For advance warning, if a DPL command is modified on-page and starts to 
effect the site usually we first try to identify what specific query it 
is and then we'll just edit that page, change the command, and leave a 
note on the talk page... but we have to act immediately if it's really 
affecting everyone.

In this particular case, we had a hard time pinning down where the 
request was coming from and, once we did, we removed it but some users 
were adding the command in other places (I think - a bit fuzzy about 
that right now).

The commands are typically pretty complex. We understand the intent 
isn't malicious and only turn off DPL on a wiki if we really don't have 
any other choice (like this time). Then we work with them to turn it 
back on.

I'm hoping we'll have a way to sandbox this soon so that it won't be a 
concern. :)
