Since this was very obvious spam unrelated to the wiki, blocking without warning is fine. You can also report such edits to http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Spam_Blacklist so that the spammer can be checked on all wikis, and have their IP or URLs blocked as well where necessary.
