I went looking at all the various RSS methods, and none seem to do what i wanted, and then i looked at Daworms's news system from AOC.wikia and i decided to gank that and see what i could do. after fighting with it for a while (and digging through the DPL manual) i got it to read and output in a format that i liked.
but theres 2 problems, its also printing a TOC, despite the __NOTOC__ on the page, and its also printing section [edit]'s despite the __NOEDITSECTION__ also on the page. i have this test page with the DPL template include at the top and the source page straight transcluded at the bottom here is the page with no __NOTOC__ __NOEDITSECTION__ http://eq2.wikia.com/index.php?title=Main_Page2&oldid=207278 notice the TOC on both the top and bottom section here is the page after adding __NOTOC__ __NOEDITSECTION__ before the dpl call http://eq2.wikia.com/index.php?title=Main_Page2&oldid=207280 notice the bottom TOC is gone, as are the sec [edits]? yet the top ones from the dpl generated content is still there. and for the record, i also tried placing the DPL call directly on the page instead of inside a template, no dice. i found a work around, i'm going to not re-wrap the sections in ==='s making them headers, i'm going to just css format them to look like it. but i thought i should mention this to someone, as it might be causing an issue elsewhere, or there might be some DPL flag/tag/var that i missed that can properly turn them off. -C.
