I looked back at [[Special:Recent changes combined]] recently thinking
it might be an idea for watching the near absolute inactive wiki which I
almost never check for changes anymore.
But looking over it I found that it was completely unusable.
* Markup is broken and is also hard to read.
* diff and history links don't show up for wiki other than central.
* The name/link of the page that was edited does not show.
* The dates are incorrect (Edits that are from a few weeks ago show up
under today's date.
* The retrieval is extremely slow... From the looks of it, it is a heavy
load on the server just to check 20 near inactive wiki.
* And it doesn't keep up to date at all (The Combined recent changes
lists changes which are over a day old when there are new changes in
front, and is in no way recent)
It doesn't look like it's something high in the que to be worked on.

Would the techs mind opening up the code and letting the volunteers fix
it, or rewrite it if necessary?

I think I might be able to find some ways to make it run better to.

Just a query...
Would there be anything wrong with creating a special
globalrecentchanges table inside of the shared database?
It's the method I would probably use to make this work best... With
database querying, and api behind if not ok...
