I just wanted to forward this to the community at large in case anyone wants to nominate their own community... this is a very prestigious digital arts competition in Europe, and one of the categories is "Digital Communities". They are into "artsy" things usually but Wikipedia won the top prize of Golden Nica a few years ago.

More than 3,300 submissions in 2007 have further enhanced the Prix Ars Electronica�s reputation as an internationally representative competition honoring outstanding works in the cyberarts.
