i should have mentioned why the need for the 2nd patch. the bot software depends on knowing where certain page elements are in the page source. to do this, they tell you to change your bot account's skin to monobook. if you are not running the bot under a 2nd account, you will need to change your skin to monobook before you run it.
my patch fixes this by forcing all the page gets to be in monobook, allowing it to operate in any skin setting with any account.
