Summary: Suggestion from village pump
Product: MediaWiki
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(pro
posals)#Revision_history_filters
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: Normal
Component: User interface
AssignedTo: [email protected]

(copied straight from village pump idea)
On some of the high traffic pages, one of the most annoying things about the
revision history page is that well over half the revisions are vandalism
related. Vandalism, revert, vandalism, revert. It is difficult to see what are
legitimate changes. I also understand the argument that some reverts are
presumptuous, and not all with is reverted is vandalism. While there is no
perfect system, and i don't have much coding experience, the wiki software
itself could have filters for the revision history page. Little check marks so
that people can customize what they see. here are some of the filters i
suggest.
* Show member edits only
* Show established member edits only
* Hide revert related edits
* Hide banned member edits
* Hide banned IP address edits
* Hide bot edits
* Hide minor edits
* Show all edits
What do you think? Oldag07 (talk) 05:19,

:That'd be kind of interesting and would be a nice addition to the history
page. This as well as Flagged Revisions would also help in
this kind of thing because you would be able to hide all edits that did not
have sighted or above. —Nn123645 ([[User

*That makes perfect sense. Try suggesting it at the Wikipedia Bugzilla page, so
we can see if the developers think it can be done. -

* These would be good features to add. Another possibility would be grouping
revert/reverted edits together into one entry by default and then have an arrow
to expand the edits. Some of the Wikia wikis are set up like that. --
