The bad news is that plenty of software is a little spotty about handling such characters cleanly. In this case, that means the browsers and the fonts. Pasting "ɔ́" into Firefox 3 on my Mac seems to work fine. If it's not functioning in other current browsers, bug reports should be filed in the appropriate locations so it can be fixed for future versions.
