Where they're implemented, language (and project) portals are crucial for
translation coordination: all users should add themself to the list of
translators and follow the talk page and they should be helped to do so in
Special:FirstSteps.
If we had the possibility to list all the languages the user wants to translate
to in the "Request translator permissions" step, at least watchlisting the
portal could be automatic.
Otherwise, it could be an additional step before "Start translating!".
Or, it could be done automatically for all languages provided by the user for
the babel in the "Create your user page" step; projects could be added as well,
both for the babel and the portals.
