Bug #: 32964
Summary: Call to Action inappropriate for articles that user
cannot actually edit
Product: MediaWiki extensions
Version: any
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows 7
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Unprioritized
Component: ArticleFeedbackv5
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
Classification: Unclassified
With reference to
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Article_feedback/Version_5/Testing, I have been
doing Phase 1.0 testing. When I clicked on the "Edit" link in the Call to
Action, I found myself taken to a "View Source" page that informed me, in a
very confusing way, that I could not actually edit the article, because it is
protected. It seems to me that users should only receive the Call to Action if
they actually do have the capability of editing the article. (My personal
opinion is that the Call to Action does not belong in the Feedback Tool at all,
but if it is there it should at least not make false promises.)
I'll also note that the page I was taken to was poorly laid out and contained
several template errors -- but this might only be a consequence of being on the
test wiki rather than en.wikipedia.
