Screenshot showing the bug in action
in the following case, WikiEditor's headings dropdown operates incorrectly.
1. Edit a new article on English Wikipedia right now (MediaWiki 1.18) using
Internet Explorer 8.
2. Type "abc" on the first line
3. Position the cursor at the beginning of the edit box (to the left of the "a"
in "abc")
4. In the Advanced toolbar, use the headings dropdown and choose "Level 2".
5. A Level 2 heading gets inserted like this:
== Heading text ==
The words "Heading Text" should be highlighted, but "eading text " is
highlighted, including the final space character.
This is new in MediaWiki 1.18.0 -- it does not happen in 1.17.1.
See attached screenshot showing the use case above.
