I > don't understand why this bug is needed? bug 30864 was for assamese numbers in numbered lists (look at bug 5942). bug 31371 removed number translation, which broke other things---one of which is that the contents list (at the top of wikipedia articles) became numbered in Latin (look at the top post and follow links), though we continue to see assamese numbers in numbered lists.
