             Bug #: 34671
Summary: Android Wikipedia app is not a valid helper app like
                    third-party apps.
           Product: Wikipedia App
           Version: 1.1beta2
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: Generic
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]
    Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

Two issues, which I believe belong together (but happy to split if that is
better):

1. When visiting a URL from a non-browser application (like mail), options
appear for what app is to be used. On my phone, this includes the built-in
browser, Firefox, or -- if it's a Wikipedia link -- a third-party app,
Wikidroid. But the Wikipedia app is NOT included in the list -- it is
apparently not listed as a helper app in a way that the OS recognizes.

2. If #1 is fixed, I think there is a good opportunity to do much better than
Wikidroid and the other third-party apps: those apps fail on any URL that ends
in: "/w/index.php?" In other words, any diff links, history tab, old revisions,
etc. If the Wikipedia app could make sense of those URLs, it would be a great
feature for sophisticated readers! Bonus points for being able to log in and
view a watch list..but I won't hold my breath there!

I'm using Android (Gingerbread, perhaps?) on a HTC G2 phone from TMobile USA.
